Saxown Beef Casserole
A simple old-fashioned flavoured casserole that can be cooked slowly in the oven or in a slow cooker. When cooking in a slow cooker, cook for one hour longer that stated time in recipe.

Preheat the oven to 150°C/ 300 o F / Gas Mark 2
Take a large lidded pan or casserole and add the oil, heat and add the beef cubes. Fry quickly until the meat is browned. Sprinkle in the flour and mix well. The onions, carrots, stock, salt & pepper can now be added and bring everything to the boil, remembering to stir it occasionally. Simmer for 5 mins. Place the pan/casserole into the pre-heated oven or slow cooker and let it cook slowly until meat is tender (for at least 2-3 hours). Check seasoning , serve with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and ENJOY!

- 2lb / 900g Saxown Longhorn Stewing Steak, cut into 1in/2.5cm cubes
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1oz/25g flour
- 1 large or 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1/2 lb / 450g carrots , cut into cubes or strips
- 3/4 pint / 375 ml stock
- Salt & freshly ground black pepper
